N & K
Address: 206C Bidadari
Project name: Woodleigh Glen
N&K is a vibrant and energetic couple with plans to revamp their BTO home to something minimalistic & warmth. “To socialise” is their overarching design concept. They require a space that encourages interactions without the distractions from technologies. Their approach is a contemporary autumn look.
Living, Dining and Gatherings
To expand the space, the walls in the master bedroom were removed so that the walkflow is wide and comfortable. The table & bench area can sit up to 6 people; where friends and family can dine together at home. They can grab their beverages from the fridge positioned at their convenience. Any opportunity for hotpot can reach easily for the ingredients too.
Things to look out for: if you’re planning to install a dishwasher at an island cabinet, take into consideration of the plumbing pipes and kitchen cabinet base. We have to cut out a square out of the corner so that the flexible tube can pull through. The bottom images shows how the piping are done.

Partitions & L-boxes.
When the tiles are mostly settled, the next hurdle is to look at the box ups. As HDB comes with many surprises such as their sewage pipes. Or after installing the aircons, there are trunkings running round the home. As we partition up with L-boxes, and with a paint coat, these trunkings will look like beams around the house. It gives a minimalistic look to the home. It is just that it will be a hassle for aircon maintenance, if any of the pipes leaks. Homeowner probably have to redo the L-boxes after the repair works.

After most of the box up and partitions were installed. Next will be the carpentry works; we had a full height wardrobe to separate the master bedroom & walkway. The access will be from the walkway so it feels like a walk-in wardrobe. We selected on lamitak’s microcement laminates, it goes well as a themed color for the kitchen.

Soon the tabletop’s installed together with the backsplash. Homeowner decided on Lapitec’s tabletop, a similar but more study texture like the microcement laminate.
We made plans for the LED & lights; some were purchased from Sol Luminaire, and others are phillip lightings. Here’s how the renovation look on photoshoot!
